Celeryville
Christian School SCRIP Program
What is SCRIP?
SCRIP is a
term that means "substitute money." SCRIP
was developed to assist parents with the
cost of tuition. When you purchase SCRIP,
you are purchasing negotiable gift
certificates that are used just like cash.
The SCRIP is issued by the national and
local retailers where your family already
shops. These merchants want to support
non-profit organizations, and in return, ask
you to support them by shopping with SCRIP
at their stores. You can use SCRIP to
purchase everyday items like food, clothing,
and other essentials, and with every
purchase, you earn money toward your
tuition. As a non-profit organization,
Celeryville Christian School can purchase
SCRIP from participating merchants at a
discount. For instance, most grocery SCRIP
can be purchased at a 4-5% discount. This
may not seem like very much, but because of
the potential volume involved, it can add up
to significant dollars.
How does using SCRIP benefit
my family?
Groceries,
clothing, toys, gifts, even gasoline can be
purchased with SCRIP. Your family will
accrue money toward tuition by making
purchases that they would make anyway. You
can also get your extended family and
friends involved to help build your account.
Why do merchants
participate?
SCRIP is a
win-win situation for everybody. Families
who purchase SCRIP certificates actively
support the retailers who participate in
this program. It is also a great public
relations tool for a merchant because they
are supporting a non-profit organization in
the community.
The
purchasing of a gift certificate is a dollar
for dollar value. You will not spend extra
money for the goods and merchandise you
already purchase. You will just be using
gift certificates instead of cash.
